All about asthma

We all know someone who is affected by asthma, it might even be you.

What is asthma?

It's more than just a wheeze...

Asthma is a lifelong condition of the airways that causes symptoms like coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing.1,2

It's not always taken seriously, but asthma symptoms can sometimes become life-threatening.2

What happens with asthma?

Your airways are the little tubes that help you breathe. In people with asthma, those tubes can get irritated and swollen on the inside - becoming inflamed.2,3

When this happens, the walls of the airways swell up, muscles tighten around them, and they can make extra mucus. All of that makes it harder for air to flow in and out.4

That's why breathing can feel tight, wheezy, or like you're trying to suck air through a straw.

These symptoms can come and go, but may be triggered by things like allergens, smoke, exercise, or even cold air.1,2,5
